About the Role
Sheffield’s Industry and Metalwork collections reflect the story of making in the city, from master craftsmen to mass production and include the city’s Designated Metalwork collection. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about engaging people with Sheffield’s collections. As Curator of Industry and Metalwork you will champion access to the collections and work collaboratively to display, research and interpret these exciting collections and lead their development, management and care.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- a degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
- demonstrable experience of curating metalwork, industrial or other relevant collections
- experience collaboratively developing and delivering engagement activities, including displays, exhibitions and events, that appeal to a range of audiences
- experience in research and collections management
- experience working collaboratively with colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams
- experience of working on a range of tasks to tight deadlines
- experience building networks with communities, businesses and specialists
- awareness of health and safety issues
- excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- ability to make specialist knowledge of interest and relevance to a wide range of people
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- good level of IT literacy
- an adaptable and pragmatic approach to work that supports the success of the organisation
- flexible approach to working hours
- ability to work on own initiative and within a team
- highly motivated and quality conscious
